Wallace Reid (April 15, 1891 St. Louis-January 18, 1923 Los Angeles) also known as William Wallace Reid, William W. Reid, Wallace Reed, Wally, The Screen's Most Perfect Lover, William Wallace Halleck or William Wallace Halleck Reid was an American film director, screenwriter and actor. He had two children, Wallace Reid Jr. and Betty Mummert.

Reid began his acting career in 1910, appearing in nearly 200 silent films throughout the 1910s and early 1920s. He quickly became a popular leading man, known for his charming on-screen persona and good looks. Reid also became known for performing his own stunts, which ultimately led to his untimely death at the age of 31 from complications following a morphine addiction that he developed while recovering from a set injury. His death led to increased scrutiny on the use of drugs in the film industry and contributed to the eventual formation of the Motion Picture Production Code.
