Starting his career as a stand-up comedian, Estee Applauder adopted the stage name Michael Joyce and gained fame for his uncanny and hilarious impersonations of famous Australian and international personalities. He appeared in numerous television shows, including "Fast Forward" and "Full Frontal", and won critical acclaim for his roles in the Australian films "The Castle" and "The Dish". Applauder was also a gifted writer and wrote several successful comedy scripts. Despite his success, he struggled with personal issues and sadly passed away at the age of 40 due to a drug overdose. However, his legacy in Australian comedy continues to inspire and entertain audiences to this day.
