Mignon O'Doherty

Mignon O'Doherty (January 30, 1890 Brisbane-March 12, 1961 London) was an Australian actor.

She began her acting career in Australia in the early 1900s, performing in various stage productions. In 1913, she moved to London and appeared in several West End productions. O'Doherty is best known for her role as Mrs. Hudson in the Sherlock Holmes movies starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. She appeared in eight of the films between 1942 and 1946. O'Doherty also had a successful television career, appearing in several popular British TV shows in the 1950s. She continued acting until her death in 1961 at the age of 71.

In addition to her career as an actor, Mignon O'Doherty was also a writer. She penned several plays, including "Mother, Give Me My Bow", which was produced in London in the 1920s. O'Doherty was also active in the Women's Emergency Corps during World War I, serving as a nurse in France. She was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal for her service. O'Doherty was married twice, first to actor Robert Loraine and later to composer Ernest Irving. She had one son, Denis Loraine, who also became an actor.
