Hanna Wisser

Hanna Wisser (November 17, 1894 Austria-November 17, 1989 Austria) also known as Hanna Thimig was an Austrian actor.

She was born in Vienna, Austria and was a member of the renowned Thimig acting family. Hanna made her stage debut in 1914 as Ophelia in Shakespeare's Hamlet and quickly gained recognition for her talent. She appeared in several productions in Austria and Germany before immigrating to the United States in the 1930s.

In Hollywood, Hanna appeared in several films including the 1932 drama The Sign of the Cross and the 1937 comedy Easy Living. She also continued her stage career in the US and performed on Broadway in the 1940s.

In addition to her acting work, Hanna was known for her anti-Nazi activism. She was a member of the American Guild for German Cultural Freedom and worked to assist refugees fleeing Nazi Germany.

Hanna retired from acting in the 1950s and returned to Vienna where she lived until her death in 1989 at the age of 95.
