Berthe Bovy

Berthe Bovy (January 6, 1887 Liège-February 26, 1977 Montgeron) also known as Betty Bovy, Sociétaire honoraire de la Comédie Française Berthe Bovy, Berthe Bovy de la Comédie Française, Berthe Bovy sociétaire de la Comédie Française, Berthe Marguerite Jeanne Bovy or Mme. Bovy was a Belgian actor.

She began her acting career in Brussels before moving to Paris in 1907, where she joined the Comédie-Française in 1911. Bovy was part of the company for over 30 years and became a respected member, earning the title of Sociétaire honoraire.

Throughout her career, Bovy performed in a number of plays including works by Molière, Racine, and Shakespeare. She was also known for her roles in contemporary plays and for her interpretations of strong female characters.

Outside of the theater, Bovy appeared in a few films including Jean Renoir's "Nana" (1926) and Marcel Carné's "Le Jour se lève" (1939). She also worked as a voice actress, dubbing foreign films into French.

Bovy continued to act well into her 80s and was honored with several awards throughout her career including the Legion of Honour and the Croix de Guerre.
