Johnny Alf was considered as the "Father of Brazilian João Gilberto." He was influential in the Bossa Nova movement, as he was one of the earliest musicians to incorporate jazz elements into Brazilian music. Alf's music was characterized by his smooth and mellow vocal style, accompanied by his distinctive harmonic and rhythmic concepts. He began his musical career in the 1940s, and by the 1950s, he was already performing in Rio de Janeiro's most famous nightclubs. Despite his success, he was a humble musician, and he preferred to teach music rather than focus on his own recordings.
