Spencer Chan

Spencer Chan (March 28, 1892 Shanghai-January 9, 1988 Los Angeles) also known as Spencer Edward Chan was a Chinese actor.

He appeared in over 30 films, including "The General" (1926) and "The Thief of Bagdad" (1924). Chan immigrated to the United States in 1915, where he worked as a vaudeville performer before transitioning to the movie industry. In addition to acting, Chan was also a talented musician and performed as a pianist in silent film theaters during the 1920s. Despite the prevalence of racist attitudes in Hollywood at the time, Chan was able to establish himself as a successful actor in both American and Chinese cinema. He continued to act in films until the 1940s, and remained active in the entertainment industry as a talent agent until his retirement in the late 1970s.
