Zdena Kavková

Zdena Kavková (July 9, 1896 Prague-December 1, 1965 Prague) was a Czech actor.

She began her acting career at the age of 18, performing in small theaters in Prague. In 1921, she joined the Prague National Theatre and became a respected member of the company, showcasing her talents in both classical and contemporary roles. Kavková was particularly praised for her performances in plays by Czech authors such as Karel Čapek and Jiří Mahen.

Throughout her career, Kavková also made numerous appearances in films. She starred in the 1927 silent film "The Earth Sings" (Země zpívá) directed by Vladislav Vančura and later in the 1950 film "Golden Dreams" (Zlaté sny) by Jiří Krejčík.

Aside from her acting pursuits, Kavková was also known for her involvement in Czechoslovak cultural life. She served as the chairwoman of the Czech Actors' Association and was also a member of the Czech Pen Club. Her contributions to Czech culture were recognized when she was awarded the title of National Artist in 1955.
