Karl Roos

Karl Roos (April 14, 1914 Denmark-April 7, 1951 Denmark) also known as Karl Johannes Roos was a Danish film director, screenwriter and actor. His children are called Lise Roos and Ole Roos.

After completing his education, Karl Roos worked as a journalist before turning to filmmaking in the mid-1930s. He started his career as a screenwriter and went on to direct his first feature film, "En Ny dag gryer" (A New Day Dawns) in 1945. Roos became known for his socially conscious films that often dealt with poverty and issues affecting the working class.

He went on to direct several other films including "Danmark i mørke" (Denmark in Darkness) and "Vi som går køkkenvejen" (We Walk the Kitchen Path), which won the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1953 after Roos's death.

In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Karl Roos was also an accomplished actor, appearing in several films throughout his career. Unfortunately, Roos's life was cut short when he died of a heart attack at only 36 years old, just a few days before his 37th birthday. Despite his short career, Karl Roos left a lasting impact on Danish cinema and is remembered as one of the country's most influential filmmakers.
