He is known for his contributions to Italian neorealist cinema and directed over 90 films throughout his career. Alessandrini began his career in the 1920s as an actor, appearing in Italian films such as "Quo Vadis?" and "Cabiria". He transitioned to directing in the 1930s and quickly became known for his socially conscious films that highlighted issues such as poverty and political corruption. Some of his most notable films include "Under the Sun of Rome", "La Valigia dei Sogni", and "Acciaio". Alessandrini was known for his attention to detail and his ability to capture the reality and emotions of his characters on screen.
