Charles Holland

Charles Holland (March 12, 1733 Chiswick-November 27, 1769) was an English actor.

Holland was born in Chiswick, London and started his acting career in the early 1750s. He performed in many plays and gained popularity for his comedic roles. In 1754, he joined David Garrick's company at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane, where he became a leading actor. He also performed in Dublin, Ireland and Edinburgh, Scotland.

Holland was known for his versatility as an actor and was praised for his ability to perform both tragedy and comedy roles equally well. He was a member of the actor-manager movement, which allowed actors to take control of their own productions and have more creative control.

Holland's promising career was cut short when he died at the young age of 36 due to a liver disease. He was buried in the churchyard of St Mary's Church, Ealing.
