He began his acting career in the early 1910s touring with various stock companies before transitioning to films. In the 1920s, he starred in several movies such as "Without Benefit of Clergy" (1921) and "The Man Who Saw Tomorrow" (1922).

Forman later became a director and screenwriter, starting with the 1924 movie "The Alaskan." He directed acclaimed films such as "The Courtship of Miles Standish" (1923) and "The Heart Thief" (1927).
