He was best known for his roles in the movies Grease and the television series Taxi. Conaway began his career in the late 1960s as a Broadway performer before transitioning into film and TV. In addition to his acting career, Conaway also worked as a recording artist and released several albums.
Later in life, Conaway struggled with addiction and appeared on the reality show Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. He passed away in 2011 at the age of 60 after being found unconscious due to complications from pneumonia and sepsis. He won four Grammy Awards, four Emmy Awards, three Academy Awards, and one Tony Award throughout his illustrious career. Some of his most well-known works include the scores for films such as "The Way We Were," "A Chorus Line," and "The Sting." Additionally, he was the principal pops conductor for multiple symphony orchestras across the United States, including the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the San Diego Symphony. Hamlisch was inducted into both the American Theater Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
