Jim Henson (September 24, 1936 Greenville-May 16, 1990 New York City) also known as Dr. Teeth, Ernie, James Maury Henson, Mr. Jim Henson, Jim Henson and his Puppets, Jim Henson's Muppets, The Muppets, Kermit the Frog, Jim Henson & The Muppets, James Maury "Jim" Henson or Jim Henson's Kermit the Frog was an American puppeteer, film director, television producer, screenwriter, voice actor, film producer, television director, actor, cartoonist and inventor. He had five children, Brian Henson, John Henson, Lisa Henson, Heather Henson and Cheryl Henson.

His most well known albums: Bert & Ernie Sing-Along and Sleepytime on Sesame Street.

Jim Henson was born and raised in Mississippi and later attended the University of Maryland, where he created Sam and Friends, which aired on local television and featured his first puppet Kermit. Kermit later became a beloved character in the Muppets and was designated as Henson's signature creation. Henson's Muppets became a cultural phenomenon, starring in several television shows and movies including The Muppet Show and Sesame Street. Henson also created other popular characters such as Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and Gonzo the Great. In addition to his work with the Muppets, Henson directed several influential movies, including The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. Henson also co-founded The Jim Henson Company, which continues to produce television shows and movies today. Henson passed away at the age of 53 due to complications from pneumonia.
