Ritva Arvelo

Ritva Arvelo (March 11, 1921 Helsinki-October 26, 2013 Helsinki) also known as Ritva Helinä Arvelo was a Finnish actor, screenwriter, television director and film director. She had two children, Meri Oravisto and Hannu Oravisto.

Arvelo studied at the Helsinki Society of Dramatic Arts and started her career in theatre before making her film debut in 1946. She appeared in numerous Finnish films and TV shows throughout her career, including the TV series "Hovimäki" and the films "Punainen planeetta" and "Jäniksen vuosi".

In addition to her acting work, Arvelo wrote screenplays for several films and directed her own films, including "Lomalla" and "Matka huomiseen". She was also active in the Finnish Actors' Union and served as the union's chairperson from 1971 to 1974.

Arvelo received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to Finnish film and culture, including the Order of the Lion of Finland and the Pro Finlandia Medal. She passed away in Helsinki in 2013 at the age of 92.
