Daniel Balavoine (February 5, 1952 Alençon-January 14, 1986 Gourma-Rharous) also known as Balavoine, Balavoine, Daniel or Bala was a French singer, musician, record producer and singer-songwriter.

His albums include Les aventures de Simon et Gunther... Stein, Sans frontières, Anthologie, Anthologie, De vous à elle en passant par moi, Face Amour, face Amère, L'Essentiel, L'essentiel, L'Essentiel and L'Intégrale. Genres he performed: New Wave, Pop music and World music.

Balavoine was one of the most influential French pop singers of the 1980s. He began his music career in the early 1970s as a songwriter and quickly rose to fame with his debut album "Le Chanteur" in 1978. Throughout his career, Balavoine was known for his socially conscious lyrics, often tackling political and humanitarian issues.

In addition to his music career, Balavoine was involved in numerous humanitarian and political causes. He was an outspoken critic of apartheid in South Africa and was a strong supporter of the Band Aid charity, which aimed to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia.
