Iza Orjonikidze

Iza Orjonikidze (November 21, 1938 Tbilisi-February 9, 2010 Tbilisi) was a Georgian poet, politician and literary scholar.

She was a prominent figure in the cultural and political scene of Georgia during the Soviet era, and later in the post-Soviet period. Orjonikidze was a member of the Supreme Council of the Georgian SSR and served as the Georgian Minister of Culture from 1986 to 1990. She was also a prolific writer and translator, with her poetry and essays being widely published in Georgian and Russian literary journals. Orjonikidze received numerous awards and honors for her contribution to Georgian literature and culture, including the Shota Rustaveli State Prize in 2008. Despite her political and cultural achievements, Orjonikidze remained a humble and dedicated writer until her death in 2010.

Niyazi

Niyazi (August 20, 1912 Tbilisi-August 2, 1984) was a Georgian composer and conductor.

He is considered one of the most important figures in the development of classical music in Azerbaijan and Georgia. After studying in Tbilisi and Moscow, he became the conductor of the Azerbaijani State Symphony Orchestra in 1938. He is best known for his opera "Koroghlu", which premiered in 1937 and is still performed today. Niyazi was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1969 and was also a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. In addition to composing and conducting, he was also a music educator and served as the Director of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society from 1953 to 1983.
