Estrongo Nachama was a Holocaust survivor who was held captive in the notorious Nazi concentration camp also known as Auschwitz during World War II. After the end of the war, he moved to Berlin in 1951 where he began his career as an actor and singer. He appeared in numerous German films, television shows, and theatrical productions, and also became famous for his performances as a cantor in synagogues across Europe. In addition, he was a vocal advocate for religious tolerance and interfaith dialogue, and was actively involved in promoting understanding between Jews and Christians. He was awarded several honors during his lifetime for his contributions to promoting religious and cultural harmony.

Estrongo Nachama was born to a Sephardic Jewish family in the Greek city of Thessaloniki. He grew up in a multicultural environment that exposed him to various languages and cultures. When the Nazis invaded Greece in 1941, he was arrested and sent to Auschwitz, where he was forced to perform in the camp's orchestra. He was one of the very few prisoners who survived the ordeal.
