Some of his notable performances include his role in the film "Love Film" (1970) and in the film "Angi Vera" (1979), for which he received the Best Actor Award at the Hungarian Film Festival.

Aside from his acting career, István Bálint was also a successful writer. He wrote several plays, screenplays, and novels. His most notable work is the screenplay for the film "Time Stands Still" (1982), which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.
