Dukhiram Swain was born on January 22, 1942, in Cuttack, Odisha, India. He started his acting career in 1964 with the Oriya film "Suryamukhi." He went on to act in over 100 films in Odia cinema. Some of his notable films include "Jhia Jiba Sashughara," "Naga Phasa," "Suna Chadhei," "Pua Mora Bholashankar," and "Puja Phula."

Apart from being an actor, he was also a writer and director. He directed the film "Samay Kheluchhi Chaka Bhaunri" in 1996. He was also a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from 1995 to 2000.
