Chrisye

Chrisye (September 16, 1949 Jakarta-March 30, 2007 Jakarta) was an Indonesian singer and songwriter. His children are called Rizkia Nurannisa, Risty Nurraisa, Rayinda Prashatya and Randa Pramasha.

His albums include The Best of, Best Cinta, Greatest Hits, Badai Pasti Berlalu, Chrisye Masterpiece Trilogy Limited Edition, Chrisye By Request, Jurang Pemisah, Dekade, Konser Tur 2001 and Sabda Alam. Genres he performed: Pop rock, Pop music, Contemporary R&B and Progressive rock.

Chrisye was born as Christian Rahadi in Jakarta, Indonesia. He started his music career in 1970, when he joined the rock band Gipsy. He later joined several other bands, including Freedom of Rhapsodia and Panbers. In 1977, he released his first solo album, Sabda Alam, which was highly acclaimed by both the public and critics.

Throughout his music career, Chrisye released over 20 albums, and collaborated with many popular Indonesian musicians such as Erwin Gutawa and Yockie Suryo Putra. Some of his most famous songs include "Kisah Kasih di Sekolah", "Pergilah Kasih", and "Phantom of the Opera" (an Indonesian version of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical).

Aside from music, Chrisye was also active in social and environmental issues. He was a supporter of the Indonesian Children Cancer Foundation and actively campaigned against deforestation. Chrisye passed away in 2007 due to lung cancer, leaving a legacy as one of Indonesia's most beloved musicians.
