Spike Milligan (April 16, 1918 Ahmednagar-February 27, 2002 Rye) also known as Terence Alan Milligan, Terence Alan Patrick Sean Milligan, Spike Milligans, Spike Milligan CBE, Spike Milligan KBE, Terence Alan Patrick Seán Milligan or Terence Alan Patrick Seán Milligan KBE was an Irish actor, screenwriter, comedian, writer, musician, poet, playwright and soldier. He had six children, James Milligan, Jane Milligan, Laura Milligan, Seán Milligan, Silé Harrower and Romany Milligan.

Milligan was best known for his work as a comedian and writer, particularly as a member of the highly influential British comedy group, The Goon Show. He was also a prolific author, writing numerous books of poetry, fiction, and memoirs. Milligan was born in India, but moved to England as a child and later served in the British Army during World War II, where he suffered a nervous breakdown and was eventually discharged. After the war, he began his career in entertainment, quickly gaining a reputation as a subversive and irreverent comic. Milligan was also an active campaigner for various causes, including nuclear disarmament and animal rights. He was awarded a CBE in 1992 and a knighthood in 2000 for his services to entertainment.
