He played as a pitcher for the Chiba Lotte Marines, the New York Yankees, the Montreal Expos, and the Texas Rangers in both Japan and the United States. Irabu was known for his powerful arm and fastball but struggled with consistency during his career. Despite his challenges, he was still a two-time MLB world champion with the Yankees in 1998 and 1999. After retiring from baseball, Irabu became involved in various business ventures, including running a Japanese restaurant in New York City. Tragically, he committed suicide in 2011 at the age of 42.
