Lamya (April 5, 1973 Kenya-January 8, 2009 Oman) a.k.a. Lamya Al-Mugheiry was a Kenyan musician.

Her discography includes: Learning From Falling. Genres she performed: Rhythm and blues, Alternative rock, Dance music, Contemporary R&B and Electronic dance music.

Lamya was known for blending different genres to create a unique sound in her music. She was born in Mombasa, Kenya to a Kuwaiti mother and an Omani father. She started creating music at a young age and was later discovered by legendary musician, Prince, who signed her to his record label, NPG Records.

Aside from being a talented musician, Lamya was also an actress and scored a role in the film "The Lather Effect" in 2006. She was a feminist and often spoke out about issues related to gender inequality, including female genital mutilation. In 2009, at the age of 35, Lamya passed away in Oman due to complications from asthma. Her legacy as a musician who fearlessly and passionately blended different genres and used her platform to advocate for important causes lives on.
