She was the author of a number of acclaimed books that include "The River and the Source", which won the Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature in 1995. In addition to her work as an author, Ogola was also deeply involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Kenya. She served as the Director of Medical Services for the Kenyan Ministry of Health in Nyanza Province, where she worked to improve healthcare access for vulnerable populations. She was also a devout Catholic and served as the national chairperson of the Catholic Doctors Association of Kenya. Ogola passed away in 2011 at the age of 53 due to complications from cancer.
