Jeon Chang-Geun

Jeon Chang-Geun (January 18, 1908 Hoeryong-January 19, 1973) also known as 전창근, Chang-geun Jeon or Chang-keun Cheon was a North Korean actor, film director and screenwriter.

He was considered to be one of the pioneers of the North Korean film industry and was known for his contributions to the development and production of North Korean cinema. Jeon started his career in the film industry in the 1940s as an actor and later went on to direct and write screenplays. He directed several films, including "Nameless Heroes" and "Kwahak-ui Sarang" (Love of Science). Jeon's films often depicted themes of patriotism, loyalty, and revolutionary spirit. He received numerous awards and honours for his contributions to the North Korean film industry and was posthumously awarded the title of People's Artist of North Korea in 1974. Jeon was also a member of the Workers' Party of Korea and served as a delegate of the Supreme People's Assembly.
