Tatyana Pelttser

Tatyana Pelttser (June 6, 1904 Moscow-July 16, 1992 Moscow) a.k.a. Tatyana Ivanovna Pelttser or T. Pelttser was a Russian actor.

She moved to Leningrad in 1923 and in the late 1920s became one of the leading actresses of the Maly Drama Theatre, where she worked until the end of her artistic career. Pelttser played heroines of classical dramas and modern plays, including plays by Anton Chekhov, Maxim Gorky, and William Shakespeare. She was awarded three Stalin Prizes (1949, 1952, 1953), the highest artistic recognition in the Soviet Union, and was designated as a People’s Artist of the Soviet Union in 1960. Pelttser was also a professor at the Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography. She returned to Moscow in 1956 and continued to perform on stage and screen. In 1973, she was awarded the Order of Lenin for her contributions to Soviet theatre and cinema.
