Khadija Gayibova

Khadija Gayibova (May 24, 1893 Tbilisi-October 27, 1938 Baku) a.k.a. Khadija Osman bey qizi Gayibova or Khadija Muftizadeh was a Russian pianist and teacher.

Khadija Gayibova began playing the piano at a young age and later went on to study at the Tbilisi Conservatory. She then moved to Moscow to study under renowned pianist and composer Sergei Taneyev. Gayibova went on to have a successful performing career, performing across Russia and other European countries. In addition to her performances, she also taught piano and was known for her rigorous and demanding teaching methods. Gayibova was highly regarded by her students, many of whom went on to have successful musical careers. However, her life was cut short when she was arrested during Stalin's Great Purge and was executed in 1938. It wasn't until the 1960s that her name was fully rehabilitated and her achievements as a pianist and teacher were recognized.
