Bob Courtney

Bob Courtney (October 31, 1922 Dorset-October 24, 2010 Johannesburg) a.k.a. Christopher Robert Courtney Leaver was a South African actor and broadcaster.

He began his career as a broadcaster in the 1940s and gained prominence as a radio announcer in South Africa. He was the first anchor of the popular radio program "Pick of the Week" and hosted several other programs on the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

Courtney also made a name for himself in the entertainment industry as an actor, appearing in numerous plays, TV shows, and films. He notably starred in the 1957 movie "Zarak" alongside Victor Mature and Michael Wilding, as well as in the 1965 film "The Satan Bug".

In addition to his career in broadcasting and acting, Courtney was also an accomplished writer and published several books. He was awarded the South African Film and Television Awards' Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008 for his contribution to the entertainment industry in the country.
