Laurence Harvey

Laurence Harvey (October 1, 1928 Joniškis-November 25, 1973 London) also known as Laruschka Mischa Skikne, Hirsh, Zvi Mosheh Skikne, Hirsch Skikne, Larry, Harry Skikne, Hirshkeh or Hirsh Skikne was a South African actor and film director. He had one child, Domino Harvey.

Harvey's parents were Lithuanian Jewish immigrants who moved to South Africa when he was a child. He began his acting career in the 1940s, appearing on stage and in radio dramas. In the 1950s, he moved to England and quickly established himself as a leading man in British films such as "Room at the Top" and "The Manchurian Candidate".

Harvey eventually found success in Hollywood, appearing in films such as "The Alamo" and "Butterfield 8", for which he received an Academy Award nomination. He also directed the film "Welcome to Arrow Beach".

Harvey was known for his brooding and intense performances, and his reputation as a difficult and demanding actor led to conflicts with directors and co-stars. He was married three times, and had a reputation as a womanizer.

Harvey died at the age of 45 from stomach cancer, leaving behind his daughter Domino, who would also go on to have a career in the entertainment industry.
