Walo Lüönd

Walo Lüönd (April 13, 1927 Zug-June 17, 2012 Losone) also known as Walo Luond or Walter Lüönd was a Swiss actor. He had two children, Daniel Lüönd and Oliver Lüönd.

Walo Lüönd was born in the town of Zug, Switzerland to a family of actors. He trained at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and made his debut in 1948 at the Schauspielhaus in Zurich. He then went on to perform at theaters across Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

Lüönd was a prolific actor who appeared in over 100 films and television shows throughout his career. He gained international recognition for his portrayal of Emil Bürki in the 1955 film "Uli, the Tenant". Other notable films include "The Flying Classroom" (1954), "Fögi Is a Bastard" (1998), and "Mein Name ist Eugen" (2005).

In addition to his work as an actor, Lüönd was also a director and writer. He directed several plays at the Zurich Schauspielhaus and wrote the screenplay for the 1963 film "Hinter den sieben Gleisen".

Lüönd was widely regarded as one of Switzerland's greatest actors and was awarded numerous accolades for his contributions to the arts. He was awarded the Swiss Film Honor in 2008 and the Hans Reinhart Ring, the highest honor for theater in Switzerland, in 1997.
