Sonny Bono

Sonny Bono (February 16, 1935 Detroit-January 5, 1998 Stateline) a.k.a. Salvatore Philip Bono, Mayor Sonny Bono, Sonny Christie, Ronny Sommers, Prince Carter, Salvatore Phillip "Sonny" Bono, Sonny or Sonny Bonno was an American record producer, politician, singer, actor, songwriter, musician and film score composer. He had five children, Chaz Bono, Christine Bono, Chesare Elan Bono, Chianna Maria Bono and Sean Bono.

His discography includes: Inner Views and Laugh at Me. Genres: Rock music and Pop music.

Sonny Bono began his music career in the 1960s as part of the duo Sonny & Cher, alongside his wife at the time, Cher. The duo had many hits including "I Got You Babe" and "The Beat Goes On". Bono also had a successful solo career and wrote hit songs for other artists, including "Needles and Pins" for The Searchers.

In addition to his music career, Bono was involved in politics. He served as the mayor of Palm Springs, California and later as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from California's 44th district. He was a Republican and his political platform focused on copyright law and protection for creative industries.

Bono died tragically in a skiing accident in 1998. He was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1998. His son, Chaz Bono, is also a noted public figure, known for his work as an LGBTQ+ rights advocate and author.
