Virgil Madgearu
Virgil Madgearu (December 14, 1887 Romania-November 27, 1940) was an Armenian writer, economist and political scientist.
Madgearu was born in Bacău, Romania to an Armenian family. He attended school in his hometown and later continued his studies at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. After completing his studies, he worked as an economist in various institutions, including the Romanian National Bank.
In addition to his work as an economist, Madgearu was also involved in politics. He was a member of the National Peasants' Party and served as a deputy in the Romanian Parliament. He was known for his advocacy of economic development and social justice.
Madgearu was a prolific writer and published numerous books and articles on economics and politics. He was also a translator and translated academic works from French and German into Romanian.
Madgearu's life was cut short when he was assassinated at the age of 52. His death was the result of political tensions and conflicts that were prevalent in Romania at the time. Arthur Edmund Carewe
Arthur Edmund Carewe (December 30, 1884 Trabzon-April 22, 1937 Santa Monica) a.k.a. Hovsep Hovsepian, Arthur Carew, Arthur E. Carew, Arthur Carewe, Arthur Edmund Carew or Arthur Edmond Carew was an Armenian actor.
Carewe was born in Trabzon, Turkey in 1884 to Armenian parents and immigrated to the United States at a young age. He began his career as a stage actor and eventually moved into silent films in the 1910s, often playing dashing romantic leads. He appeared in over 70 films, including notable roles in "The Phantom of the Opera" (1925), "The Cat and the Canary" (1927), and "The Ace of Cads" (1926).
Despite his success in film, Carewe struggled with personal demons and suffered from depression. In 1937, at the age of 52, he took his own life in his Santa Monica home. Though his life was cut short, his legacy lives on as a pioneer of early cinema and a talented actor of his time.
He died in suicide.
