Karim Fakhrawi

Karim Fakhrawi (April 5, 1962 Bahrain-April 12, 2011) was a Bahraini personality.

He was a businessman, human rights activist, and co-founder of Al-Wasat newspaper, which is known for its coverage of political and social issues in Bahrain. Fakhrawi was also a member of the opposition party, Al-Wefaq, and was imprisoned several times for his activism. In 2011, during the Bahraini uprising, Fakhrawi was arrested and detained by the Bahraini security forces. He reportedly died shortly thereafter due to torture while in custody. His death sparked widespread protests and condemnation from international human rights organizations. Fakhrawi's legacy continues to live on as a symbol of the fight for democracy and human rights in Bahrain.
