Khan Ataur Rahman (December 11, 1928 Singair Upazila-December 1, 1997 Dhaka) also known as Anees Ama, Ataurrehman, Anees, Khan Ata, Khan Ataur Rehman, Tara or Anis was a Bangladeshi film director, singer, actor, composer, film producer and screenwriter. His children are called Rumana Islam and Khan Anisur Rahman.
Khan Ataur Rahman started his career in the film industry in 1952 with the film 'Sonar Baran'. He went on to become one of the most successful film directors in Bangladesh, directing over 50 films throughout his career. Some of his notable films include 'Jibon Theke Neya', 'Ashikkhito', 'Nayanmoni' and 'Rupban'. He was also a prolific singer and composer, creating music for many of his films.
In addition to his contributions to the film industry, Khan Ataur Rahman was also involved in politics. He was a member of the East Pakistan Provincial Assembly and was an advocate for the Bengali language movement.
