He earned a degree in classical bass from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and went on to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Thys has performed with many esteemed jazz musicians such as Lee Konitz, Mal Waldron, Stefano Di Battista, John Abercrombie, and Enrico Pieranunzi, among others. He has released several albums as a leader and co-leader and has received critical acclaim for his unique sound and approach to music.
