Sandy Denny (January 6, 1947 Merton Park-April 21, 1978 Wimbledon) a.k.a. Alexandra Elene Maclean Denny was a British singer, singer-songwriter and actor. Her child is called Georgia Lucas.

Sandy Denny rose to fame as the lead singer of the British folk rock band Fairport Convention in the late 1960s. She left the band in 1969 to pursue a solo career and released her debut solo album, The North Star Grassman and the Ravens, in 1971. Denny was known for her haunting and ethereal voice, as well as her poetic and introspective songwriting style. She collaborated with many notable musicians throughout her career, including Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant and folk rock legend Richard Thompson. Sadly, Denny passed away in 1978 at the age of 31, following a fall down stairs that resulted in a brain injury. Her influence can still be heard in the music of many contemporary artists, and she is considered one of the greatest folk singers of all time.
