Margaret Anglin
Margaret Anglin (April 3, 1876 Ottawa-January 7, 1958 Toronto) was a Canadian actor.
She was considered to be one of the finest actresses of her time and was particularly known for her work in theater. Anglin made her stage debut at the age of 17 and went on to play a variety of roles in both Canada and the United States. She worked with some of the most prominent theater companies of the day, including the Abbey Theatre in Ireland and the Theatre Guild in New York City.
Anglin was also a pioneer in the field of directing and was one of the first women to direct plays professionally. She directed many of her own productions and was one of the first women to direct a Shakespeare play on Broadway. In addition to her work in theater, Anglin also appeared in several films, including "The Right to Happiness" (1919) and "The Passion Flower" (1921).
Throughout her career, Anglin received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to theater. She was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 1979 and the Canadian Theatre Hall of Fame in 1999.
