Sydney Sturgess (March 5, 1915 Ipoh-September 30, 1999 Toronto) also known as Dorothy Anna Sturgess, Dorothy Anna "Sydney" Sturgess, Dorothy (Sydney) Anna Sturgess or "The Management" was a Canadian actor. Her children are called Hayward Morse and Melanie Morse MacQuarrie.
Sydney Sturgess was born in Ipoh, Malaysia to British parents but she spent most of her childhood in Canada. She attended the University of Toronto before moving to England to pursue a career in acting. Sturgess appeared in numerous films, television shows, and stage productions over the course of her career. She was also a founding member of the Stratford Festival in Ontario.
Sturgess was well-known for her portrayal of strong, authoritative female characters, which earned her the nickname "The Management" from fellow actors. She was married to actor Barry Morse for over 50 years until his death in 2008. Together, they had two children: actor Hayward Morse and television producer Melanie Morse MacQuarrie.
