Rosina Lawrence (December 30, 1912 Westboro, Ottawa-June 23, 1997 New York City) also known as Miss Lawrence or Miss Jones was a Canadian actor, dancer and singer.
She began her entertainment career in vaudeville at the age of six and later worked in radio before transitioning to film in the 1930s. Lawrence is perhaps best known for her role as Daisy Mae in the 1940 film adaptation of the comic strip "Li'l Abner." She also appeared in films such as "Buck Privates" and "Rhythm on the River." In addition to her film work, Lawrence continued her career in radio and performed on stage in Broadway productions. After retiring from acting, she ran a successful talent agency in New York City.

Barbara Pentland
Barbara Pentland (January 2, 1912 Winnipeg-February 5, 2000) also known as Pentland, Barbara was a Canadian composer.
She studied at the Juilliard School of Music in New York and later returned to Canada where she became a prominent figure in the Canadian contemporary music scene. Pentland's works were often experimental and incorporated influences from various musical traditions. She was known for incorporating electronic music into her compositions and was one of the first Canadian composers to do so. Throughout her career, Pentland received numerous awards and honors, including honorary degrees from several universities. She also served as a professor of music at the University of British Columbia for many years. Today, she is remembered as a pioneering figure in Canadian music and her works continue to be performed and studied around the world.
