Skip Prokop
Skip Prokop (December 13, 1943 Ontario-) a.k.a. Ronald Harry Prokop is a Canadian drummer, bandleader, songwriter, radio personality and musician.
He is best known as the founder and drummer of the Canadian rock band, The Paupers. Prokop began his career in the early 1960s as a session musician, working with artists such as John Lee Hooker and Robbie Robertson.
In 1965, Prokop and three other musicians formed The Paupers, which became one of the most popular Canadian bands of the era. The group released three albums and toured extensively throughout North America, sharing stages with The Doors and Jefferson Airplane, among others.
After The Paupers disbanded in the late 1960s, Prokop became a sought-after session drummer and producer, working with acts such as Janis Joplin, Carlos Santana, and Bob Seger. He later formed the bands Lighthouse and Any Trouble, and also worked as a radio host and music journalist.
Prokop remained active in the Canadian music scene until his death in 2017. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1996 as a member of The Paupers.
