Ester Soré

Ester Soré (May 27, 1915 Santiago-September 6, 1996 Santiago) a.k.a. Black Pretty or Esther Soré was a Chilean actor and singer.

She was born into a family of musicians and began her career as a child performer in stage productions. In the 1930s, she became a celebrated radio singer and later performed in nightclubs and theaters. Soré was also a talented actor and appeared in several films throughout her career, including "Subterra" (1950) and "La Tía de Carlos" (1968). However, her career was often hindered by racism because of her Afro-Chilean heritage. Despite this, she remained a trailblazer and influencer for future generations of Afro-Latinx performers. Soré passed away in 1996, but her legacy lives on as a symbol of overcoming adversity and achieving success against all odds.
