Carlos Holguín Mallarino (June 11, 1832 Nóvita-October 19, 1894 Bogotá) was a Colombian lawyer, soldier and journalist.
He is best known for being the 13th President of Colombia, serving two non-consecutive terms from 1888-1892 and from 1892 until his death in 1894. During his presidency, he implemented modernizing policies, such as the creation of the Banco de la República and the establishment of the Colombian Academy of History. Holguín also negotiated a peace treaty with Peru in 1894, ending the Colombia-Peru War. Before his presidency, he served as Minister of War and Navy and played a key role in the establishment of the Colombian Liberal Party. Holguín was also a prolific writer, authoring numerous books and articles on law and politics in Colombia.
