José Francisco de Peralta

José Francisco de Peralta (April 3, 1786 Cartago-September 16, 1844) was a Costa Rican politician and priest.

He was one of the signatories of the Act of Independence of Central America in 1821 and served as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Central America from 1830 to 1833. Peralta was also a strong advocate for education and established several schools throughout Costa Rica during his lifetime. He is considered one of the founding fathers of Costa Rican independence and a prominent figure in the country's history.
