Aniceto Esquivel Sáenz (April 18, 1824 Cartago-October 22, 1898 San José) a.k.a. Aniceto Esquivel Saenz or Aniceto del Carmen Esquivel Sáenz was a Costa Rican politician.
Esquivel was a prominent figure in the history of Costa Rica, holding various political positions including as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of War and Navy, and Minister of Finance. He also served as the President of the Supreme Court of Justice and was a member of the Constituent Assembly that drafted Costa Rica's first democratic constitution in 1871.
Esquivel was a strong advocate for democracy, freedom of speech, and free press. He is credited with helping to stabilize the economy of Costa Rica during his time as Minister of Finance, and for promoting educational and cultural projects in the country. Esquivel also founded the newspaper La Opinion, which became an important voice for social and political reform in Costa Rica.
