Dejan Dubajic

Dejan Dubajic (July 10, 1897 Karlovac-January 16, 1969 Belgrade) was a Croatian actor.

He started his acting career in 1920 and had a successful career in theater, film and television. Dubajic acted in over 60 movies and was considered one of the most popular actors in Yugoslavia during his time. He was a member of the Yugoslav Drama Theater in Belgrade for many years and also worked as a professor of acting at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. Dubajic was honored with numerous awards for his contributions to Yugoslav cinema including the Order of the People's Hero, which was awarded to him posthumously in 1971.

In addition to his successful acting career, Dubajic was also known for his work as a director and writer. He directed and wrote the screenplay for the film "Vagon Li", which was released in 1956 and won the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival. Dubajic was also known for his work in radio, and was a prominent voice actor in Yugoslavia.

During World War II, Dubajic was imprisoned in a concentration camp for his anti-fascist activities. After being released from the camp, he continued to speak out against fascism, and was a strong advocate for the arts in Yugoslavia. Dubajic was married twice and had two children. He passed away in 1969 in Belgrade, and was given a state funeral in recognition of his contributions to Yugoslav cinema and culture.
