Semka Sokolović-Bertok

Semka Sokolović-Bertok (December 22, 1935 Sarajevo-March 4, 2008 Zagreb) also known as Semka Sokolovic, Semka Sokolovic Bertok, Semca Sokolic or S. Sokolovic was a Croatian actor and professional chess player.

She was born to a Bosniak family in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. After completing her studies at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, she began her acting career in the Zagreb Youth Theater. Throughout her career, she appeared in over 70 films and television shows, including the acclaimed Yugoslav films "When Father Was Away on Business" and "Occupation in 26 Pictures".

In addition to her acting career, Sokolović-Bertok was also an accomplished chess player. She represented Yugoslavia in international tournaments and was awarded the title of Woman International Master by FIDE in 1963. She was also a five-time Yugoslav champion in women's chess.

Sokolović-Bertok was married to the Croatian actor and director Vladimir "Vlado" Bertok. She passed away in 2008 at the age of 72 in Zagreb, Croatia.
