Gojko Šušak (April 16, 1945 Široki Brijeg-May 3, 1998 Washington, D.C.) also known as Gojko Susak was a Croatian politician.
Šušak was a key figure in the Croatian War of Independence in the 1990s, serving as the Minister of Defence from 1991 to 1998. Prior to his political career, he worked as an engineer in Canada and was involved with the Croatian diaspora community. Šušak was instrumental in creating the Croatian army and securing international recognition for Croatia. He was a strong advocate for Croatian independence and played a key role in the country's military strategy during the war. However, he was also a controversial figure, accused by some of war crimes and human rights abuses. Despite this, he remains a significant figure in Croatian history and politics.
