Joseíto Fernández (September 5, 1908 Havana-October 11, 1979) also known as Joseito Fernandez, Fernández, Joseíto, José Fernández Díaz, Joselito Fernandez, José Fernández, Jose Fernandez, Fernández, José or Joséito Fernández was a Cuban singer, songwriter and composer.
He is best known for his composition "Guantanamera", which has become one of the most popular songs in the world, covered by countless artists in numerous languages. Fernandez began his career as a singer on the radio in the 1930s and went on to become a prolific songwriter, composing over 200 songs. In addition to "Guantanamera", some of his other notable compositions include "La Bayamesa", "Elige Tu Que Canto Yo", and "El Tren de Yaguaramas". Fernandez was also a skilled guitarist and often performed with his own band. His music was deeply rooted in the traditions of Cuban music, particularly the son and the bolero.
