Josef Rovenský (April 17, 1894 Prague-November 5, 1937 Prague) a.k.a. Josef Ravensky was a Czech actor, film director, screenwriter and writer.

He began his career as an actor in theater before transitioning into film, where he quickly rose to prominence as a director and writer. He directed and wrote several successful films, including the romantic drama "The Eternal Song" and the historical epic "Jan Hus", which won him critical acclaim both in Czechoslovakia and internationally. In addition to his work in film, Rovenský was a prolific writer, publishing several books of poetry and prose throughout his career. Despite his success, Rovenský's life was cut tragically short when he died of tuberculosis at the young age of 43.
